Hampton police: Man shot overnight near South Street

Hampton police are investigating an overnight shooting near the 600 block of South Street. A 37-year-old Hampton man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot around 1:08 a.m. inside his vehicle, police said in a news release.

The man was approached by an unknown male suspect who demanded money from him, police said. After a fight, the victim was shot multiple times. The suspect was described as wearing all dark clothing with his face covered.
